smiles on pretty faces
"There are places I could go," She said. "You know I always dreamt I'd go to places."
"If only I could leave my bed I'd take you to them all." I said, "but at places baby, face it we don't dare to show our faces."
She said "just be bold, I've been told they're not really all so cold" and took me by the hand to dance said,
"Tomorrow hasn't happened yet and tonight I see smiles, smiles on pretty faces."
Through the night we're running in and out of time and lining up to taste it and we're out on the town again, running around, for shame. You can see the faces racing to the places, they're all chasing their tails in the dark. Twisting hearts and wishing they would never part and see the class acts spinning round, thinking that they'll never touch the ground and who knows they might be right. 'Cause tonight I see smiles, smiles on pretty faces.
I said "I see it now I don't know how I ever thought we could lose."
She said, "you know the night in spite of what you think is always right for taking away such blues."
All the class acts agreed that she'd never been so beautiful and as the music dies our eyes still sparkle like they're dangling form the chandeliers and I see smiles, smiles on pretty faces.
